The Hickam Field Neighborhoods are the oldest housing areas on the base and were part of the original construction at Hickam Air Force Base.  The original housing structures were constructed between 1939 and 1947.  The Hickam field neighborhoods also contain infill housing in various locations built after 1950, primarily in the Hickam Field officer neighborhoods.  The Hickam Field neighborhoods were built with a variety of housing types, including single-family, duplex, and multi-plex buildings.  The Hickam Field neighborhoods have the open spacious appearance of a graceful suburban community.  Numerous unique details, such as antique street lighting and signposts, contribute to the positive neighborhood image.
